Hey Peter, what a coincidence
However I would just like to say ( before that nice gentleman who was having a bit of a lark with their website, naughty little tinker, homes in on me) that I have never been through the door in fact I’ve never even heard of them.
I think the language is 1337 leet that hackers use to talk to each other but I haven’t a clue what it says.

No I like Yacht clubs and I’ll tell you why, They organise my social life for me and put me in touch with like minded people, You go down the pub any Saturday night and there’s a good chance your night will be spoilt with yobs crashing and banging chairs, people talking to loudly, arguing, people throwing beer and fighting.
At least in a yacht club it only happens at committee meetings,

I think the trick is, join the club, don’t join the committee

You're having a laugh aren't you? That's not leet, "leet looks like this"
"#337 #00|{$ #1|{3 7h1$".

What's on the page you refer to is simply a standard Lorum Ipsum text, probably left there by accident by the web designers - not hacked at all. I've never heard of a hacker leaving lorum ipsum as a tag, but loads of websites have it in place by accident, where it was put in place during layout tests, and not replaced by the real content

No Brendan with respect Leet doesn’t look like this #337 #00|{$ #1|{3 7h1$".

It is constantly changing and the code is known only to the hacking group involved.

A couple of months ago it was signed 1337 leet, that’s where I got it from. It`s gone now.

It`s not there by accident as it changes every week or so, near impossible to work it out as they put stuff in like `lorum ipsum`to throw you off the scent,

Tell me why can’t they get rid of it? Perhaps they do and he keeps coming back, I dunno.

Yes leet evolves, just like english does, and yes some hackers use it, but it's not specifically hacker speak, it's just web slang, and loads of kids use it. and yes leet does 'look like' the example I posted. That's where the 1337 comes from, it's 'leet' in leet. 1 is L, 3 is reversed E, 7 is T...... unlike the leet I posted in the example which is also leet, and spells 'leet' as #337, so you can see the evolution in action for yourself.

If it had been hacked, I can't see a hacker who speaks leet, then replacing it with a layout script. and if on the odd chance they *are* continually being hacked, why just the juniors page and not the home page. If they can't keep a hacker out after weeks, the webmaster needs shooting

Yes, on not yet activated links. It's the web developers setting things up. That's what Lorem Ipsum is used for.

If I phone them up and check, will that put you at rest that the site is in development, not hacked???????

I agree, the website is not hacked. Look here, the first page is perfectly allright:

http://www.hearsallgolfclub.co.uk/

If it would have been hacked, they would hack the first page, because that's there almost all hits are. The page you are referring to would have less than 10 hits a day in the case of a local golf or sailing club, so why bother hacking it?

he's referring to the 'link' boxes on bottom left and bottom right. The one's that contain the text "Lorem ipsum dolor sit ......." At least we know now why he has dog as his avatar....he's barking mad! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Lorum Ipsum is used as 'random text' in web developing so that the pages can be laid out without the distraction of actual english. It's actually ancient latin text. Very good explanation here:

Look Brendan I don’t want to argue, I can’t, as I`ve said I don’t know.

Let me give you the full facts,
this website has been like this to my knowledge since before Christmas, I first noticed it in November. It looks like a simple enough site so why haven`t they fixed it.

Originally it was shorter and contained graphic swearwords that were defiantly not code.
There was a reference to someone being up someone`s ass and all that sort of thing.
It changes all the time
Could it be a webmaster working against a hacker ?

Waste of time phoning, It`s not something they would like to admit, so you can`t trust the answer.

Oh yes, I did not see that actually. However I do know how lorem ipsum text are used so I still agree with you. A hacker would certainly want to do something more...drastic to the page.

Well, it's being hosted commercially by fasthosts, so if it was being hacked, you would expect the hoster company to be able to sort out any hacking quite quickly as they wouldn't have much reputation left if they let the hacker back in continually over months.

I wouldn't be suprised if the swear words weren't just the developers putting random content in for fun, then accidentally making the page live - it happens quite a lot, and if not many people are using the site (highly likely) and even few visit the junior members page, then it may have been quite a long time before any one picked up on it. I'll book mark it and keep an eye on it.

That sounds reasonable
What would you normally see when someone hacks into a site.
I wouldn’t recognise it as I’ve never seen it before. But I do find it interesting.

When a site is defaced, almost invariably the hacker will leave behind a splash page in place of the home page, with the hackers handle (nickname) that will prove to their peers who did it. This is called defacement, and normally no other damage is done. This is different to hacking into systems for other intent

Have a look here
