In the early 1990's recession, it was amazing how many Financial Advisors went bust...how can you hope to advise people on finance whrn you can't keep your own house in order!
Would be intersting to ask say the top 1000 entrepreneurs in the country if they had ever consulted and IFA...
My surveyor made several mistakes when he did the survey for insurance purposes, here are a couple of examples:
1. Stated there was no cockpit cover, which meant if it rained the boat would sink, although he watched me remove it so he could get on board. (I can't imagine how much rainfall he thinks we get on the south coast).
2. Claimed I didn't have a life belt, although it was in full view.
I wasn't aware that he'd missed these until the report arrived, I then had trouble convincing my insurers that these items existed.
OK so your one of the good guys - what racks me off is the problem Joe Public has finding the good guys.
I needed a window fixed - sealed uint etc - Yellow Pages the best plan but how does one rate the service - stick a pin and hope.
I like the EBay rating system but imagine trying that on your local builder who cant operate a calculator !!

Thats cause you are retired.
With PI and compliance costs you couldnt run a proper business like that.
I thought you were supposed to provide advice, not sell products!
people don't know what they need, they only know what they know and that is never enough.
just cause they ask you for a specific product doesn't mean that there arent alternatives that are better. Ignorance is often bliss.
glad it works for you though
