Hi I am in need of a qualified skipper who knows how to navigate the river severn from Gloucester down to Avonmouth dock. She is a 68foot 7187279_orig.jpg passenger boat , steel hull. I have attached a picture of her. this needs to be done ideally on the 26th April. Can you or can anyone recommend anyone to do this for me. I would prefer them to live close to the area and know the river severn.
thanks

I may be wrong but you de best to check with River board people
An official ‘Pilot’ may be required for your type of vessel
I have the qualifications to Helm Her but live too far away really
A properly rated Skipper may be allowed to do the Trip however ‘sans’ Pilot
Years since I have done that Gig but I can tell the waters can Shift there!!
The timing has to be correct because the vessel you have can only do displacement speeds
I presume this is just a Delivery trip and a ‘Cruise’ with passengers aboard?
You may do well to post/ ask the same question on the Bristol Channel Forum

For a boat of that size I would suggest www.gloucesterpilots.co.uk . These guys are contracted to the Gloucester Harbour Trustees who are the competent harbour authority for the tidal river Severn. Their website says they provide pilots 24/7 for commercial and leisure vessels?

£220 seems very reasonable for a professional pilot. They won’t drive the boat though.

I’ve done that passage half a dozen times at least (and I’ve got a commercial ticket to skipper that size and sort of boat) but I’m in Surrey and it’s not economically viable for me (by the time I get a train/bus back to my car at Sharpness and drive to and from home)

The cost must be getting close to a simple mobile crane lift out say at Sharpness dockyard or Gloucester straight onto the road transport. Its a two tide job for a slow boat Sharpness to Bristol so there is extra crew time & a lot less anx.

Judging from the OPs photo, it would need a hell of a big lorry!

Yes I have the lorry sorted as the wheel house and canopy comes off but I cannot get her lifted in bristol she is too heavy, she was lifted in at avonmouth so I know I can have her lifted back out. but i need to get her there.

I'm unaware of any lifting facility at Avonmouth
It is a commercial dock, handling cars, Forrest products and fruit and veg
You can't just rock up there and ask for a berth
The authority is the Bristol Port Company, might be an idea to call them
