Expensive screws!

There's a serious point in here: that local authorities greed for cash and inability to park near shops just to "nip in" and pick up a single item does drive us online. Of course residents need to be able to park near their houses but in most high streets it's not resident parking that causes the issue...

The impact on the bricks-and-mortar business is unlikely ever to be reversed.

There are 2 fairly accessible car parks in Maldon which are not expensive, plus one can usually find a spot in the actual high street. I sympathise with the OP & admit that I have often left my car in the street at that chandlers. But for all that I think one should respect residents parking as on street parking for them will most likely be a real pain.
I also note that lots of people say " I only went in for 5mins" But in that time poor parking can often cause chaos. Plus in many cases the 5 mins is more like half an hour . People do not realise how long they have really been

You can tell this isn't the Lounge. Any thread entitled "expensive screws'" on there would have diverged from mechanical locking devices long ago!

This is the East Coast Forum where you get a better class of forumite!

Err, humm, and much better locally informed suggestions /recommendations upon where to go, when one needs one, as so to say :-)

My nearest village has free parking, and the nearest town, 5 miles away has the first hour free. Excellent in my opinion - but unfortunately we are 50mins. from the coast!

For info (to ECF members only of course), Maldon has half a dozen free parking slots in the car park half way 'down' the high street on the port side, very convenient for Reeves where you may park for 30 mins. The bays are marked in RED. I use them nearly all the time as I am a speedy shopper/bank visitor. As an aside it makes for adding to my keep fit regime  whereby the need to walk briskly up the high street may be in order not to overstay .
