I'm hoping to have a week or so heading west from the solent and might pop into the river Ex.

Never been in there before so any welcome please.

Where to moor up..marinas or buoys..Mrs wont sleep at anchor!

Thanks

No marina, maybe a visitor's bouy but I wouldn't bother - there are much nicer places to go.

There is a marina. Exmouth marina. Exmouth as a town is ok, but the River Exe is beautiful on a good day but pretty awful on a bad day. I have several moorings in the river and waking up off Dawlish Warren on a sunny calm morning is a real delight, hard to beat anywhere. My mooring there is not being used at the moment so you’re welcome to stay if you want, it’s suitable for a 40’ boat.

If you want to venture further upriver there’s the River Exe Cafe off Starcross, best to book if you want to eat there. There’s also Topsham, but it does get shallow beyond the Turf hotel. And for something completely different you can lock into the Exeter Ship Canal, there are visitor pontoons just inside the canal by the Turf hotel, power, water and a shower, all for about £40 for a long weekend, Friday through to Monday. I spent almost a week there on Eos last year and loved it..

So, yes, the Exe is quite remote and wild, not many facilities for visitors, but don’t write it off because it does have a beauty all,of its own.

We live around 80 miles north of Exeter, straight up the M5 and have searched extensively for details on a mooring in the area but with no luck
I see some off Powederham , mid stream or Exmouth Marina
Just a bit surprised that there isn't more facilities for a boater to keep their boat, on a pontoon with leccy etc in such an area
