Try Grizards` Tools in SW6 0207 385 5109 84a Lillie Road . They have got a
very good selection of tools. Personally I would not use a flycutter in a hand held
drill. They really need to be used in a pillar drill. The fact that they are unbalanced
makes them prone to vibration. I think that that one would be quite dangerous in a
hand held drill. If you have to drill undersize use a rotary burr in your drill to enlarge
the hole. These abrasive burrs are widely available in hardware shops and places
like Wickes and B&Q.

Phil

Screwfix (0500414141) D1800700 through to D18473 20mm cutter through to 152mm. Unfortunately they have either a 40mm (D15122) or a 44mm(D18279). You will also need the 11mm quick hitch to attach it to your 1/2" drill (12437). Also get the 10mmx15mm Flap wheel 40 grit (D93577). Mark the hole to the correct 42mm size, cut the 40mm hole, then use the flap wheel to enlarge. These will go through the fibreglass like a hot knife through butter. Have fun.

The bi-metal is because of the hardened HSS teeth.

Any queries pm me.

I used a hole saw that was slightly too small and opened it out with one of those abrasive "flap-wheels". You can get them at most DIY stores and I'm sure Screwfix do them as well. Get a coarse grit one (40 or 60 grit) that's a fairly tight fit in the hole. My hull is 10mm thick at the point I drilled the hole and it took SECONDS. In fact, be careful you don't leave the drill running for too long or you'll end up with an oversized hole!

Re: Long 2 minutes ...

Maybe my file was sharper/courses/newer than yours or I was using more "elbow grease"!!!

Cheers,

Jerry :)

if you use a 1- 5/8 inch that will give you 42mm, I don't know what size arbor you have or I could send you one if they are no longer available in the UK
