Hi I am new to motorboats and I have a Tamar 2000 which I have just bought, the wet exhaust outlet is right on the waterline at the stern, its a straight through pipe with no gooseneck. When the boat is at full speed of 6 knots the exhaust is underwater and burbling away. Is this a problem?I can see issues with back pressure, there is no fear of water getting into the engine as the engine is above water level.

Looked at a Tamar 2000 with Thornycroft BMC 1.8 years ago. There was no exhaust riser, the spill over point was about 8/9 inches above LWL, all pretty hopeless. I recommended fitting dry riser with spill over point AT LEAST 12 inches above LWL, there was plenty of room in the engine box to accommodate a riser.

Vessel I looked at had no muffler in the system and exhaust outlet was level with LWL at rest, cannot see any reason why exhaust back pressure should be an issue.

Term 'gooseneck' I have no clue...
