Mine leaked yesterday when launching (Sikaflex quick fix needed!). Somebody said just take it off altogether, are they just to reduce noise or have they got another use? Need to get another one from somewhere.

Essential - that is why you have one! It is a waterlock that collects the water in the system when you stop the engine. It also reduces exhaust noise.

Don't know which type you have, but the most common ones are made by Vetus or Halyard Marine. The former are plastic and the latter GRP but functionally the same.

Vetus R Type waterlock would probably be a direct replacement and it has a drain. Make sure you get the right diameter spigots - 45mm for your Yanmar I think.

The spigot size on the Vetus is fixed so you need to buy the right one. The same basic unit is available with all three sizes. See the Vetus catalogue.

There are a few sizes in the Vetus range which will serve as a replacement, but you'll need to check not only hose size but space available as the range has been extensively modified and the R type appears to no longer be current.

It is there. Third one down on the page. Full reference WLOCKL45R. The "R" signifies the revolving outlet but otherwise the dimensions, capacity etc are all the same as the older type with fixed outlet. The NLP45 is an alternative but it is a different shape from the one Zagato currently has and may not physically fit.

I think I know the answer to this but could I get away with this vetus one

- I don't think it has a water trap. The reason I ask is that it is a lot cheaper but also because I'm not sure I will be able to get the other one in between the seacocks to fit it! My existing one was very tricky to get in and out...

Googling the original Cerberus water trap doesn't bring anything up that's relevant to replace like for like.

The one you need is Vetus WLOCKLR45 Page 72 of the Vetus catalogue www.vetus.com Force 4 have a cheaper one, but it looks physically much bigger so may not fit and don't think it has a drain.

Thread drift - but a propos water-trap drains.
When I had the replacement engine fitted, with the original water-trap, I found there was a persistent water leak. Finally I traced it to the drain plug - done up sufficiently tightly that it only leaked when the motor was running. I finally had to replace the fibre sealing-washer.
