Hi...I have recently bought an Atlanta Faroes 24 (Hurley 24/70 rejig) with a Petter Mini 6 (AC1WM). The engine runs great except for there is a leak in the exhaust bend/elbow...the previous owner had done a temporary repair with tape/wire....i took the boat out at the weekend and under the pressure of being in gear for around 15 minutes it blew right through the temporary repair...when i turned the engine off exhaust fumes and hot water spat out of the hole at me. I'm hoping that that is "normal" and no permanent damage done.
In ther meantime can anyone suggest a better temp repair while I track down a spare part. I'm thinking of Gungum, wrapped over with thin sheet stainless steel then jubillee clamped on either side of the hole. Hardened with a blow torch to set the gum.
Anyone any better ideas? also any sources of spares!!!
