Hello all,

I have an exhaust that is half dry and half wet. The dry half has some fibreglass (I think) rope wound around it as heat insulation. The trouble is at higher revs I think it is burning and stinking out the boat. What is better to use (and preferably cheap) ? Does anyone know ?

Cheers
Stephen

I thinik I have nearly the same prob, with the stuff disintegrating and clogging air filters. I'm gona have a look at the boat show, where there's several material guys for noise insulation and suchlike

Contact ASAP supplies and buy the right stuff in thin strip, it sometimes smokes for an hour or so after fitting, (normally due to dirty hands fitting it) then it will stop, fit it properly, with cips at each end, it can look very neat.

Try a good quality car or exhaust place. you used to be able to a heat proof wrap made from recycled stuff it came on roll about 2" wide. that was years ago. I'm sure thing are even better now.
