Exhaust hose.

When I was away this summer I found the bilge full of water, to cut a long story short it was the exhaust hose leaking. It was not easy to patch, there is a lot of pressure in there. However that is by the by.

I am now renewing the hose.

Is it worth buying Vetus 51mm stuff at about £120 for the three metres - or is the ASAP Seaflow Superflex ok, at about half the cost?

My view is that the hose needs to comply with a relevant standard rather than being priced based on someone's reputation in the market place. If you want the VETUS name you pay for it!

We renewed our exhaust system last winter with seaflow hose from ASAP. Seems like a quality product to me, guaranteed 5years, Lloyd's approved and so on.

I was looking at Lloyds approved exhaust hose at Hyphose. Anybody tried it?
Half the price of a chandlers.

I'm not specifically familiar with any of these hoses, but I would be entirely happy with either ASAP or Hyphose, both of whom I have bought a fair amount of other stuff from.

Used Halyard for last job. Very good as much more flexible than old style hose. Looked a Vetus which seems much the same. If ASAP is similar construction then should be OK.

Another vote for ASAP. I replaced my 45mm exhaust hose last year and bought from ASAP based upon other forumites recommendations.

I have just installed a short piece between my spanking brand new 3ym20 and the water trap. I bought it in Preveza. I am concerned how thin walled it is. About 2mm max 50 mm dia. The old hose is at least 7 mm wall. It was cut off with a hacksaw when T90 removed. Glad the rest of the hose is still in situ.

Thanks everyone, I have ordered new hose from ASAP.

Our new hose (Seaflow) has a thinner wall than the old hose, about 5 mm sounds about right. One benefit was that the overall O/D of the new hose, being smaller, made it a lot easier to thread past the various obstacles than anticipated.

As an aside when replacing our exhaust hose I looked at Force 4. The max size they do is 60mm.
Youboat in Gosport stock bigger sizes. In our case 90mm.
