the turbo outlet is on the right of the pic
big hose to the left goes to the leg
small hose bottom right is the supply of the cooling water to the elbow

the cooling water mixes with the outlet of the turbo gases and that's what comes out of the back of the leg
this smaller hose supplies external water, not anti freezed from the heat exchanger
the exhaust elbow is thus not double skinned ?

the exhaust elbow is double skinned. It has a stainless steel insert inside. You are right the seawater/fresh water that goes through the heat exchangers exits the main heat exchanger (on a KAD) and goes into the small pipe on the side of the elbow.

Volvo do an adaptor to measure EGT. I think (please check) it's part no: 885164. Google it - its a simple steel adaptor and an extra exhaust clamp that goes between the turbo and the elbow. Pre drilled and tapped to take a screw in temp sensor.

885164 is for KAMD not KAD.

a somewhat less than seviceable riser.
The cast iron external casting has corroded with the stainless sleeve within.
First sign is usually rust staining around riser exhaust/horn pipe union clamp.
