what is the best way to get back would a taxi be cheaper than all those tubes dont fancy that on a friday night with my son we are getting the sleeper back to glasgow thanks in advance

Oh Euston, you had me guessing for a moment there.

Personally I would not hesitate to use the route suggested on the boat show website, DLR to Canning town, Jubilee line to London Bridge and Northern line to Euston. But then I have lived in and around the London area and used the Underground all my life.

DLR to Bank and Northern line to Euston looks feasible too. Maybe the number of stops on the DLR makes for a longer journey time and I think it still involves a change at Canning town.

On the other hand if your son is a youngster, low tenes or less, he'll be fit to drop by the end of the day. Taxi then without doubt whatever it costs.

If you are past your prime you might be fit to drop, taxi then too.

Bus services?

Bearing in mind that I now have a free bus pass, does anyone know whether there is a bus service from London (Kings Cross or Euston) to Excel?

Re: Bus services?

There are bus maps and a journey planner on the TFL website.

the options I was offered for 1000hrs on Moday morning were all Northern line Jubilee line and DLR .... no buses

Re: Bus services?

Peter - I have a 'Freedom Pass' ( for being over 60 !!)

it works on tubes as well as buses - maybe yours is OK for tubes as well ?

Re: Bus services?

Found that you can do an "Advanced search" on the TFL site and specify which modes of transport to use.
By bus alone its 205 to Aldgate station, 115 to Canning Town station, 241 or 147 to Custom House then a 4 minute walk. takes a bit over 1½ hours.

Unfortunately, that's right. Wonder whether being born in London makes a difference? No ......... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
