Excluding Dyson - which cordless vacuum for boat use??

Thanks, if you know the model number I'll take a look.
Thing I cant work out is that if the Dysons are that good, why are there so many second hand ones for sale on Ebay, FB Marketplace, Gumtree, etc? Most of them seem to be either broken, spares or repair, needs new battery, etc? Ar ethe batteries non replaceable or expensive? Do the motors last long or give up easily?

I can’t comment on their cordless ones, but our Dyson has been the most reliable vacuum cleaner we have ever had, it’s now coming on for 10 years old works perfectly and we have only had to replace one small part which got broken when SWMBO dropped it down the stairs.

I have a dewalt dcv584l I use it for work but take it down the boat. Runs of 18v drill batterys or plugs into the mains. Also is a wet vac great for sticking the nozzle into the bilge

And a 2nd for the De Walt vacuum. Handy to have wet and dry capability on board, and does a reasonable job of the dusty jobs too, with a HEPA filter. As stated, batteries are removable Li-Ion cordless drill batteries. Also run it off the inverter when needed.

You set me looking, since I settled on the competing system, to see if Makita too make vacuum cleaners.

They do indeed, and also in quite domestic colours alongside their trademark green.

Does anyone know if they're any good?

We've had a Dyson cordless at home for about 3 years and it's very good. 2 years ago I bought a Hoover cordless that is pretty much a Dyson look alike but a third of the price. Same fittings, motorised head for carpets and upholstery, and it's brilliant. Battery lasts at least as long as the Dyson. It charges from the mains or 12v (via a DC-DC converter). Excellent piece of kit and I don't even have to insult it by giving it the wrong name!

Just google vacuum cleaner reviews UK and you can find out which ones come closest to being as good as the Dyson if you don’t want one. There are quite a few different review sites not all advertorial.
The black and decker gets a favourable mention as does the shark.
For many boats with little carpet a dyson may be OTT. But as I said I wouldn’t swap.
