In a world where average or poor service unfortunately isn't a rarity I would like to publicly acknowledge the excellent service we have had from Norfolk Yacht Agency (NYA), Y Yacht insurance and Clements Engineering of Bedford this last week.
We switched to Y following the extensive thread on here and were very pleased with the policy and the premium. It is often said that the proof of the pudding is in the tasting but having never made a claim on our boat insurance we had nothing to go on apart from the reported experience of others. All that changed last week.
Due to go on a cruise in company this weekend we decided to prepare in good time and took the boat to the new NYA fuel facility to fuel up one evening last week. As an aside their newly introduced fuel club not only gives a good deal on diesel but also adds a level of convenience and flexibility because an electronic tag allows you to get fuel 24/7. Anyway, on the way to fill up we had an encounter with something in the water which hit the props with an almighty clang. Long story short the port prop turned out to have two very bent blades.
NYA are very responsive despite a heavy workload and the boat was lifted, props removed and couriered off to Clements Engineering in Bedford. The MD at Clements, Paul, turned out to be a diamond as he not only ensured that the repair was done promptly but he was a mine of information in terms of advising on the correct pitch for our props. Y were also very responsive with the lift and inspection being authorised very swiftly and subsequent authorisation for the repair also being very quick.
Bottom line is that because of the quality of service from all three companies we were lifted out, props couriered off, repair authorised by insurance and back in the water in five working days. Pretty good going and as a result we didn't miss the Bank Holiday weekend.
Credit where credit is due, excellent service all round so many thanks to all involved, particularly Lou from NYA who co-ordinated the whole operation
