Excellent East Coast Artist

I like this idea.
A very quick idea of price, even the number zeros, as I have no clue as what this may cost.

Hi,

Probably best to speak to Anne directly. I provided a link in the article. But we are talking hundreds not tens and not thousands. I personally think she is amazing value.

I am just a happy customer and have no connection.

Golly; I'm sure the artist in question is very talented, but this is a blatant piece of social media advertising...

...for which the Googles of this world would now charge handsomely for every hit!

Hi,

Advertising on my own behalf or someone else’s? For those interested, I linked to Anne’s blogspot: http://anneplummer.blogspot.co.uk/

I was trying to share a really good experience of something for the boat. I recognise that it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but if, like me, you had considered a piece of art to celebrate your pride and joy, then a recommendation from a happy customer would be welcomed. I reiterate, I am not connected to the artist in any way apart from being a happy customer. I would also ask if there is something wrong with recommending people who do a good job of something you can’t do yourself? I have always found that to be one of the advantages of forums.

I also apologise if somebody finds my descriptions of the work I am doing on my boat tiresome. Hopefully I don’t clutter up your feed too much. I know that there are some people who have found my blogs informative, interesting, thought-provoking and entertaining but you can’t please everyone I guess :) please feel free to skip over them to avoid boredom ;)

She's using your domain then?

Will do. Please just put BLOG in the title so they can't be confused with normal threads.

Firstly, please get the facts right when attempting to trash somebody. The link you have provided is the link to my piece on buying some art from Anne Plummer. The other link I put up was for her blogspot. She is using blogspot and not my domain. Have I explained that well enough?

Secondly, in my threads I try to describe what I have done and if you want more information, rather than copying everything into the thread I provide a link. The description I give should be enough for you to determine whether you have enough interest in the subject to go for more information. I don’t think that is unreasonable. I have received a number of comments back on this forum which have helped me to change and improve things and other comments thanking me for the input into their similar projects.

Finally, I have added a link to more information. To extrapolate your request, it would seem that anyone posting any link in a thread should clearly mark it in the title so that you know. I’m not sure that is sensible.

I am not looking for a war here so please feel free to ignore any comments or threads with Mariadz as the author.

Right. No one is trying to trash you so don't be so ridiculous. I only posted your original link back as it contradicted your statement.

I don't know about others views but I for one am getting fed up with the forum being used to advertise blogs. I've tried raising it gently and suggesting you just flag them as blogs so they can be avoided, but all I get back is aggression, so no point having any further discussion with you. I'll just start reporting future blog threads. If YBW are happy for the forum to be used to advertise your blog so be it.

It was ostensibly advertising and there’s no harm in that, other than this fun forum would soon be clogged with pseudo ads.

But, oh dear me your responses, jeez!

How is it advertising? He was recommending someone who provided a good marine service - an oil painting of your boat. No different to recommending a polisher, electrician, engineer, rigger, sailmaker, whatever. There are far worse examples of pseudo ads on here from forumites with marine trade businesses. And even worse, signatures with direct links to all sorts of non marine stuff.

My last word on this because it is getting ridiculous.

I can’t believe that saying that I was pleased with a painting and recommending a genuinely talented lady with a picture of the painting has caused such ill will.

I started off being polite, attempting to be humorous and apologising for any offence and perhaps over-reacted when I was accused of hosting her domain and advertising on the forums. I can understand how my next response could be confused (not well written), I meant I had linked to her blogspot from within my blog. But actually there was no need to go to my blog, all the relevant information is in the thread. I added the blog entry for more info and pictures if anyone was interested. You’re not, but I don’t understand why that needs to be applied to everyone.

I’m sorry if anyone is offended by my responses, at least we won’t have any more on this thread :)

He was pushing his own blog.

I've no objection to anyone recommending any supplier they've dealt with. I've got absolutely nothing against the artist. I quite like the painting shown.

I've also no objection to anyone putting links to a blog in their footer/byline.

I've even suggested just putting "Blog" in the title to warn others away, but that was rejected.

What I'm objecting to is a number of posters, Mariadz included, who in recent weeks have taken to starting threads in increasing numbers with a purpose of pushing their blogs.

Look at his original post. The URL is his own blog not the artist's.

I’m not sure if anyone else would be interested in this but we have found an excellent artist one East Coast who has painted a picture of Mariadz in Oil and we absolutely love it.

Definitely a huge recommendation from us.

Thank you Mariadz for a simple post regarding a painting you love and recommending an artist.

It is a pity there are some here who think you have other motives. Pathetic.

+4... ( Tomahawk has two hulls so I get double votes).

Besides, who wants to spend their lives reading what others have done, far better to do something yourself.
