We took her out for a trial today and I was impressed.

A very different boat from Shikara - much heavier and purposeful. Turning isn't as sharp so I understand why a bow thruster was added. Very little wake and a big feel. We did some pontoon work in the marina and I was impressed by how she just sat in the water once in the right place. I also got to see the boat builder specifications - a 3ft draft (Tony - you were right).

Rather excited... the estuary beckons /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

AAMOI how do you get onto the foredeck? There doesn't appear to be any sidedeck at all.

There are wide side decks, you just cannot see them in that photo.

We had the lift and survey today:

We feel a lot more comfortable about the draft. She needs significant repainting. Anodes are dead. But the odd thing is that she has wooden stabilisers added to her hull... will write to the builder to ask about this (he has been very helpful so far)

Well done! Had a look at her last week, certainly a very sturdy and well built boat. Couldn't believe it had armoured reinforced windows!

Well, you know what happens to boats where Gavi lives!

The survey highlighted some areas to be discussed with the seller prior to work being done... So a few weeks yet

More welding than a '69 Cortina then? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

No welding, just a bit of chemistry.

So, how's she going, any idea when you will be getting your mits on your new boat?

Another couple of weeks... there is a slight hiccup in the completion process and then she needs quite a bit of hull maintenance. I am being patient! Honest... thankfully we still have Shikara and she is getting plenty of use. She's on loan this weekend, so if you see her about then it ain't me /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

First expensive bit done: We have paid for her
Second expensive bit agreed: We have sanctioned the work
Third expensive bit planned: New boat party 18 July if anyone is passing Church Island. Moorings can be arranged.
