Ex Bukh Lifeboat engines

I have a Bukh and have had no problems with it and generally, they are regarded as pretty dependable.
A lifeboat engine, I would expect to have had very little use and to have had regular servicing though I would try and verify where the lifeboat originated from; so, depending on price of course, it could be a good buy

IMO

Pros
Well maintained.

Cons
Could have reasonable hours. Although real job hours may be low of here will have been plenty of training.
Cold - flat out immediately. Even with heaters that isn't good.

Really? I know they have to do a certain number of mandatory drills, but I didn't think it was all that high. When I hear the ships asking VTS for permission to do a lifeboat drill they report completion fairly soon afterwards, so the boats aren't spending hours in the water. Motor round the ship once and hoisted back on board.

I'm not sure what to make of the maintenance regime. Probably varies hugely depending on whether it came off a Maersk ship or an Umbongistanian rustbucket where they forge all the records of safety equipment checks (a regular in MAIB reports).

Hi,
After our Mitsubishi K4E engine giving up on us, we are looking for a replacement engine, and have also come across the Bukh ex-lifeboat engines. Did you go ahead with buying one, or find any further information out? Any help really appreciated!
