Hi,

I have recently become the owner of an Evinrude 2hp 2 stroke Outboard but unfortuantly without a manual.
This is Model number E2RCTD 1983???

Anyone know the correct Fuel Oil mix for this motor?
How is it cooled?

Ideally would like to get hold a copy of a Manual for it if possible.

with hopefull thanks

Jim,

I have had a go with a 50/1 mixture but my problem is that I can get her started but she then starts running slower and then stops. Suspecting that this was because the fuel mix was too rich I then started pushing in the choke quite quickly which did not rectify the problem.
Got the vent on the fuel tank open, Fuel tap open, choke out and throttle lever 3/4 of the way to the right on what looks like a symble for the engion turning over. Do I need to adjust the screw (fuel mix?) at the front under the cover?

She is currently sitting in a barrel with the water up to the anode. Have not observed water coming out of the exhaust. 8-(

Will check out your site next. Have tried spending some time on Intranet searches.

Phil

There is a forum <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.iboats.com/forums/boat_engines/>here</A> and the FAQS deal with mixtures.

Phil,

It may well be that you have to adjust the mixture setting but first try running the engine on full throtle (push the leaver over as far as it can go) and leave it running for about a minute before you push in the choke.

Fill more water into your barrell remember that you are running the engine in a restricted space so the turbulance from the prop. stops the cooling water getting into the impellor. If it were on the back of a dinghy the cooling water would be forced into the impellor as you motor along.

The cooling water in a barrell situation is detected as a fine mist. Put your hand near the exuast and you will feel it.

Jim.

Well the website/forums are very extensive. Quite impressed how many threads they have just on Evinrude outboards.
Speaking of mine, topping up the barrel with water and putting the hand in front of the exhaust proved that the cooling system is working
Taking the throttle to max seemed to help its running though the throttle would vibrate its self down to a more medium setting and hence stall.
A friend brought a manual round for a different 2hp Evinrude motor. Similar but not quite the same as mine. Based on that we adjusted the spark gap. Also changed the fuel. After a bit of experimenting with the mixture setting we got it running even on the medium throttle setting so much improvement.

Thanks for the advice and the forum info.
