Evinrude 55hp engine, what model/Year etc?

Hi there,

I recently bought an Evinrude 55 engine that has no serial number on the transom clamp and the disc on the engine block as been ground down to remove any stamp. The previous owner picked it up at a police auction. Is there any way of telling the year of the engine? It has a pee hole on it and says 737cc on the leg? Which seems to suggest it is perhaps late 70s?
Any help on this would be great
