Hi all
Firstly, apologies my first post is after some help. I will contribute in future where I can, I promise!
I have just bought an old Evinrude 4hp 2 stroke twin (BE 4BRCOB) and despite being unused for ten years and probably left with old petrol in, it started second pull. I love it already.
I have stripped the carb, all lovely and runs and idles beautifully.
I took the water pump apart, it all seems to be there and in good condition. Cleared the crud around the intakes. I know it doesn’t have a pee stream but I’m not sure I can tell if enough water is spitting out the tell tales.
I haven’t run it too long for fear of overheating. I have attached a hose to the water pipe and it all flows through the tell tales easily.
Unless anyone has a better idea, my plan was to run it and keep checking the temp of the block with one of those thermometers they point at your head to test for Covid.
does anyone know what temperature should the outside of the block run at?
Thanks in advance folks.
