evenrude 4 hp.upgrade

i wonder does anyone know if its possible to uprate an evenrude 4.hp to a 5 or 6 hp.
i have an evenrude four hp delux outboard which is far to heavy to use on a tender with all the lifting on and off,and its to small to make a small rib i have plane,it looks to be the same engine that is sold both as five and six hp. and i,m sure that six would get the small rib on the plane. so can it be done,thanks.Kieron

Same answer as usual really. Less hassle and probably cheaper to sell it and buy a bigger motor.
Some motors it really is just a jet change or removing a restrictor plate. But you need to know exactly which model you have.

You dont say what age but looking back at the specs of Evinrudes from when I bought mine 5, 6 and 8 hp are basically the same 164cc engine. The 4 hp and 4hp deluxe engines from the same era are only 87cc.

I believe the 5 could be uprated to 6 but I investigated and found that uprating my 6 hp to 8 hp was not a viable proposition!

The 4 obviously could not be uprated
