I have been hanging around the other forums for a while now and thought I would stick my nose in here. I have just fallen in love with Alexandros, a W21 after splitting up with my previous mistress, a little Seawych called Sophie.

Got into this sailing lark as a result of my second midlife crises and sometimes think the missus would have preferred it if I had fallen for a real mistress rather than a GRP one. Sure it would have been cheaper!

Anyway to get to the point. Alex is kept at the HBSC in Lawling Creek and I was wondering if any of you salty sea dogs would be prepared to have a bit of company cruising about the Blackwater or slightly further afield. Lacking much practical experience (just finishing day skipper) I think it would be a good idea to follow more experienced boats until we feel more confident. The club organises a few cruises during the summer but I thought there is no harm in asking.

All the best

Steve.

Is this the same Steve I spoke to some time ago and introduced to George Jepps ??. If so, hello again, and if not, then hello anyway. You may be aware there is an annual jaunt to Ostend which is coming up soon. If that is a bit far then keep watching here - there are other meets planned later in the year.

hi mate. Yes the same Steve. Just finishing the DS with George. Quite a character! Cross channel could be pushing it a bit far this summer but as you suggest, I will keep my eye
on this forum.

Hi Steve, George certainly is a character, and a lovely one too. Have a look here http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=219228&highlight=ostend We may well have a spare berth going if you are interested in coming over. My friend Nick will be part of the crew - he is also a recent Day Skipper looking for miles. We will not be doing the London trip afterwarsd, as we did that just a few weeks ago.

Hi Steve,

I'm based at Stone Point (St Lawrence Bay) so just up the river from you. I'm more at the lower end of the sailing skill set (Mobo convert) so may not be a great deal of use but you're welcome to join me when i'm out.

Hi Steve

I am in Brightlingsea but often head up the Blackwater stopping overnight at Osea / Marconi sometime even going into Heybridge Basin.

As I sail singlehanded most of the time if you want to come along give me a shout. Don't promise to do it RYA style but I (normally) get where I want to go without incident! :o

Thanks

Cheers all for getting in touch. PM's sent as appropriate and hope to bump into some of you this summer. By the way, MMSI is 235078127 if anyone is about and would like some company (weekends and school hols mainly).

Weekend weather and tides on the Blackwater are looking good so far.

All the best.

Steve
