A new to me squadron 58 2004 with Volvo 715hp engines

The evc system for the port engine is flashing a fault which depending on how you look at is it either flashing continuously or 13 flashes with a very small gap.

This is not a valid error code ( e.g. 2,5)

The seller has to resolve ( retention held ). It was reported as fixed with the dealer indicating that low coolant could sometimes cause this issue. Topped up and cap replaced. However it is still there

The engine works fine, but guidance appreciated if anyone has seen a continual flashing on an evc system

Thanks

Jeremy

If its coolant related as you lead us to believe ,but minor -no overheat

Sensor -error -- ck conections of the coolant pressure ( not temp you know that's ok presume )
Or as a simple diagnostic test re seal the cap with a piece of supermarket carrier bag trapped --to test the rubber seal --if it's duff -cos you have had it off and others a few times recently to ck ,then it won,t be able to pressure up properly
Only a easy reversable suggestion based on info given .
Assuming no obvious leak or temp rise etc --as you say it all works ok
Can you clear the errors ,it's been a while since Ihad EVC ?

Hi have you gone into diagnostic mode on the evc first or is that the flashe's your reading as soon as you turn on the ignition?

It was reported as fixed with the dealer indicating that low coolant could sometimes cause this issue.
Tricky, J.
Was this dealer a VP authorized engineer, armed with the Vodia diagnostic?
Because if yes, and if he couldn't fix the issue, I doubt that anyone else can help just based on experience.
You might try a pm to VolvoPaul, though - as a professional, he might be able to point you in the right direction.

Memory struggling but I recall having this in my 2004 sq58. Took couple of years to get fixed. Reason was that the lorry version of d12 has oil level sensor and marine version doesn't, and the evc had not been configured to ignore absence of sensor. I'm struggling to remember details as was ten yrs ago, but it was something along those lines. Only one of the engines had this problem and the boat ran fine.
