Did this happen to anyone else last night?? Apparently there was a tornado coming from Malta that did a load of damage including 6 sunken boats in Lampedusa and it was headed for the south cost of Sicily. The coastguard closed all the waterfront bars and restaurants and the shopping mall in the marina. They wanted all of us in Licata off our boats and into a safe hall at the back of the marina, then about an hour later we got word that it had veered off and was heading for Greece.

Here in Marina di Ragusa we were advised to secure everything and stay on board. Just as well the weather stayed ok as tons of us drove to the airport to collect visitors.

Apparently known as a 'medicane' (sounds like the sort of thing Sherlock Holmes used to me ), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mediterranean_tropical_cyclone - it even had a name 'Qendresa I'. As we're not with the boat, damn glad it went away!
