I gather there is a Major Tournament starting this weekend.
I am not saying that synically as a Scot, but Honestly as I am not a football fan(more Motorsport),
I'll be honest again and say that most Scots up here hope that England fall at the first hurdle, BUT I DON'T!!!!!
Anything that is good for either Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales or Britain as a whole is good for our Country.

So i'd just like to publically Wish the English football team all the very best, and i hope they win.
I will try and watch as many games as i can, and cheer you all the way, Just as long as it doesn't interfere with my boating/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif/forums/images/icons/wink.gif.

Cheers and Good Luck.

Alistair.

Ok, It wasn't directly pointed at the team, I'm sure they're all too busy to be looking in on this site.

Maybe it should have read, Good Luck England./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Football huh. Vaguely remember it, strange game with unusual round shaped ball. Are Germany playing by any chance? - I always like supporting them if the game is on in a pub, as it seems to really wind people up! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Like you not a great football follower, do they still play with 11 men each side? I'll put the Cross of St George up outside the house though, if only 'cos we can't go to the boat this weekend as our eldest is in the middle of GCSE's and his Mum wants him to definitely revise. Apparantly he gets distracted on the boat, can't think why?? Paul

P####d off with anything to do with football, fed up of hearing moronic interviews on the radio with monosylabic idiots and hearing of some idiots injury and who his replacement might be, whole programmes seemingly devoted to this one topic.

Used to look forward to watching the big tournaments but there is now just too much hype starting much too early. Now just switch off at the first mention of it all.

And as for all those naff plastic flags hanging out of all those car windows...................

I think LJS must have his Monday hat on, NOBODY should be that tetchy on a Friday. Wossup John???

I am pleased we do have the occasional bit of support from North of the border, it IS appreciated by some of us! Must admit anybody from our islands gets my support if they are battling overseas, even if from over the Severn bridge!!!!. Will quickly bugger off to the boat so I cant get the flack back, till later!!!

Have a good weekend everybody. . . . the water is calling.

Being an Englander living here in Scotland for the past 25 years I am always amazed at how the Scots go out of thier way to support anyone but England. Not many years ago during a past euro game whilst England were playing West Germany every pub here in Troon was full of Scots wearing German shirts and supporting them!!....it was only 50 years previous that these same Germans were bombing the hell out of Clydebank...some people seem to have very short memories.

"some people seem to have very short memories. "

err more to do with the general attitude of the English towards the Scots over the last 50 years, and the Welsh come to think of it. I think you'll find that plenty of Scots and Welsh were sent over the top to protect the motherland so I think they've earned the freedom to support who the hell they like......all IMHO

I shall be eagerly watching the game but being an Arsenal supporter and having just watched over this season the best side that has ever graced the English league and being a football fan ( I know this as I have the customery tiny brain and over long arms with knuckles that reach the floor), I shall be watching in total confusion as the game is played as to know who I should be cheering for as most of the French team will be Arsenal players!

I have exactly the same problem...spent half my life on the North Bank and struggle to put aside club loyalty to support the national team that includes the likes of the Nevilles, Scholes and Butt. Should be some interesting contests, tho...TH14 v SC23, RP7 v AC3, Gerrard v PV4, etc

Its going to be fascinating to watch.

My ideal outcome would be an England win (just) BUT the Arsenal French stars outclassing their English counterparts (as they have done week in and week out) and Fabien Bartez making the mistake that allows England to win. yes, that might be spot on for me.

I know it is a bit sad really our time will come though...I hope...one day!

We have powerful players, driven and determined players second to none and some skillful players in some areas but IMVHO we come up short in Flair and imagination and thats what the foreign players often bring to the English league but unfortunatly take back home again to their national teams when any international comp is on!!

We now know that come the revolution you will be the first against the wall.

A real patriot are you?

How can any one be pleased that we lost to the French

My god it doesnt bear thinking about, and I bet you would like to see the demise of the Red Ensign.

Also you must be so serious that you fill out your profile

Yeah right
