Essex courtesy flag

I've asked one of my Marines who sails a bit. He says that he can't remember the ensign that signifies no knickers, so just make do with a pennant with white stilettos on. He then claimed it should be flown in a bizarre way. He advices to make sure it hung in a slack fashion to signify something about loose knicker elastic or something.

I didn't understand most of what he was saying so I've just repeated it in the hope someone will explain.

I am assuming that its because Essex is very poor and the young ladies can't afford underwear or underwear in a good state of repair?

Knickers at half mast mounted on a string vest, surmounted with a white handbag?

I thought that you could find anything on the internet but a picture of knickers on a flagpole - no! Anyway for those of a higher cultural bent I tried to upload a picture of the Essex county flag but without success so you will have to use your imaginations. Red background, three seaxes horizontally across with yellow handles and white blades. If you really want to see how it looks then Google it!

Bit serious? Much more fun to be flippant like the rest of us.

Priceless Padre, Priceless!

(And for an extra 10 points can anyone identify the film that quote comes from?)

Shurely these flags ( for they are plural innit) are several grundies, arranged ' in yer face' across the boat as a badge of honour, conquest , trophy or summat...

I would try the local washery facility for ' unclaimed' ones...new flags look so nouveau arrivist.
