Following my last post regarding the difficulties I was experiencing with Essex Boatyards regarding obtaining a user manual for my 04 Targa 34 purchased from them in Aug 05, I thought I would let everyone know who kindly responded with helpful information the conclusion:-

Ben from Essex has now very kindly and fairly resolved the matter, by sending me a colour copy of the manual and leather binder - for which I am very grateful. It may have taken 7 months but we got there...!

I would also like to point out that whilst I was on hols in Jersey on the boat last year, they carried out warranty work on one of the alternators at their expense (I think it cost abt £600 to sort out), and Nick in particular couldn't have been more helpful.

So, confidence restored, I just wanted to set the record straight. Well done guys, many thanks indeed.

Pleased to hear your happy too. I had similar experience with Essex and they stood by me all the way.

Of course its hassle and it costs them in real terms but they do try and stand by anyone thats reasonable. IMHO

Er, a couple of questions here. Did you ask them why it took 7 months to sort out and whether the pasting they took on this forum had anything to do with their change of heart? If that is the case, then I'm not very impressed that they've only acted properly when faced with some bad publicity

I am pleased you got a result.

I will not deal with them as I couldn't find anyone to sell me a boat, despite hanging around their yard for half a day after driving all the way there form Cheshire to buy a boat. Instead, I bought my boat from LIBS.

Yesterday, I saw Essex Boat Yard on a stand at the Boat and Caravan Show at the NEC. Did not pay them a visit.

houghn - Yes you're right, I don't have the original, but a good colour copy. I decided to quit whilst making some headway. Did I deal to soon?!

Deleted User - Ben was extremely apologetic for the time it took, but in my elation I didn't ask why it took 7 months. I guess I was just pleased to get some kind of result. The manual did arrive a few days after my original post last week. Coincidence? Maybe...maybe not.

I'm grateful to all the input from the forum members, and to Ben & James from Essex for sorting the matter, finally.

Rob - really pleased that they sorted things out for you but being a cynic, i suspect they only acted with pace because of the forum and bad publicity etc....

Certainly not restored my confidence and wouldnt hand over any of my hard earned cash in the future.

Best of luck anyway.

nick.
