Apologies for the delay in this little update but it was my birthday yesterday and we went kayaking through caves! Last week we made progress on 'Liz's Study'. The old joining door between forward heads and forepeak was removed and a curved dividing wall was put in its place.
The two carpenters put the curved wall in place
The dividing wall in place with temporary brackets.
Also in Liz's Study is the new watermaker box, which doubles up as her seat.
We spent a lot of time taking apart the furling mechs on foresail, main mast and mizzen. Of course the bearings are shot to pieces and the races are pretty knackered too. See this photo which shows the torlon bearing worn away to little bead-sized balls!
Loads of other stuff, including deck boxes made of honeycomb and covered in fibreglass, and etch primer applied to the masts. It's all covered in the summary video, which you can find at the beginning of the post here: http://http://followtheboat.com/2014/02/09/esper-refit-week-5
The kayaking, by the way, was marvelous. Here's a shot from our little adventure. It was nice to have a day off from the boatyard!
