One of my fave parts of the project so far is the installation of the LED strip lights. From what we've seen so far they look fantastic, though I've been doing much research on constant current and/or voltage regulators. I'm hoping by the time the LED installation is complete I'll be an expert, or at least have an understanding on how to reduce potential fire hazards!

In this photo you can see how we've created channels for the lights which are then sprayed black. Once the ceiling is up when the lights are turned off all you'll see are black strips - it looks quite effective.

Since installing them, however, I realise we should have backed them on to aluminium plates to help with heat disipation, so that's something to sort out shortly. Anyway, here's a pic of our chart table area with both the night light and the corridor light on.

The masts and booms are pretty much done, though I've been avoiding rebuilding the forestay furling system! Happy to report that all the parts when back together after their respray and service. Stainless fittings were backed either with Jotamastic or with duct tape in order to avoid corrosion.

Dang, meanwhile, is now preparing the inside of the boat for its final coat of polyurethane, which means covering the place in clingfilm.

Here's this week's video clip, including a shot of me burning myself and those LED lights being lit up: http://followtheboat.com/2014/08/31/esper-refit-week-30/

Love it , there are some great "clubs" with similar lighting in Ibiza , oddly enough they had people in them with face masks and cling film too, (just a coincidence I'm sure), I put LED strip lighting into our galley about a year ago, the strip has darkened in some areas, they don't seem to last so long as the normal lamps , maybe its the heat ?

Im grounded now, work beckons - Surabaya/Indonesia for a couple of months, shallow water survey and loads of fishing gear , no sleep for me !

These updates are getting to be strangely addictive.

We've been through - what I thought to be - a major refit too, but we've not gone to town in a big way like you have.
Whilst we limited ourselves to 'making good', you're as good as redesigning/rebuilding the boat.

Very interested in the end result. In the mean time, I'm shamelessly knicking some ideas for possible future implementation as you go along. When do you expect to relaunch?

Help yourself to our ideas, Wim, though I can't say they're all our own. Stay tuned to the updates because we're not pulling any punches on our success. If an idea doesn't work or if something breaks, we'll report it. I'm a bit bothered about the LED installation (current regulation and heat dissipation) and at the moment we're having an issue with the swimming platform, which we'll try and cover in today's video clip.
