One of my fave parts of the project so far is the installation of the LED strip lights. From what we've seen so far they look fantastic, though I've been doing much research on constant current and/or voltage regulators. I'm hoping by the time the LED installation is complete I'll be an expert, or at least have an understanding on how to reduce potential fire hazards!
In this photo you can see how we've created channels for the lights which are then sprayed black. Once the ceiling is up when the lights are turned off all you'll see are black strips - it looks quite effective.
Since installing them, however, I realise we should have backed them on to aluminium plates to help with heat disipation, so that's something to sort out shortly. Anyway, here's a pic of our chart table area with both the night light and the corridor light on.
The masts and booms are pretty much done, though I've been avoiding rebuilding the forestay furling system! Happy to report that all the parts when back together after their respray and service. Stainless fittings were backed either with Jotamastic or with duct tape in order to avoid corrosion.
Dang, meanwhile, is now preparing the inside of the boat for its final coat of polyurethane, which means covering the place in clingfilm.
Here's this week's video clip, including a shot of me burning myself and those LED lights being lit up: http://followtheboat.com/2014/08/31/esper-refit-week-30/
