with their website being a bit on (very very) the creaky side, and having tried various routes through the questions I was greeted with long waits and then massive error messages which rather shows that few have tried it .... i tried to print out the forms. But i can't fiull out the sodding forms, without answering them and they don't get through to the paying bit, so no idea how mooch it is. Is there somewhere else where you get the forms?

Either way I spose I will now have to wait until the boat gets to the UK and put "licence applied for" in a little blue circle until then.

They should just invoice me from the p1 registry shouldn't they? Meanwhile, until i find the forms, it's free, or quite delayed anyway, and they could have got my (and maybe other people's) money sooner, eh?

Erm mine turned up by post, I used the internet site. £30 I think, ish. Shall I apply for one for you? :)

PS D2 was in fine fettle yesterday, (well, except for some of the copper sheets peeling off, but only a few sqm, the adhesive dissolves in seawater after a week and also is made the traditional way from fishbones, it is in fact considered a delicacy by barnacles). You left the white canvas "door" into the deck saloon rolled up open, is that right?

It was too windy to go out so we didn't. We tried the jetrib. you were right, thay are crap construction. Our drive seems knackered, it only does 7 knots then vibrates the passengers to death. Man coming to bodge err fix mebbe.......

Like you, I got fed up trying to get a license online, so I printed the form off, filled it in and sent it off. The license turned up a couple of weeks later. I'm not a techie, so I don't know what your printing problem is but it seemed to work OK when I did it (and I'm possibly the world's most PC illiterate guy).

The fee is twenty quid so if all else fails, perhaps you could just mail them a cheque and a despairing note, saying "please Mr Martin, Sir, may I have a license"? I'm sure he will take sympathy on you, he seems a nice guy /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

This is /was my first year boating in UK waters and my licence falls due in May (I think - will have to check next w/e).

Do they not just send a reminder like the car tax or do you have to 'remember' yourself and fill in the ruddy form again each year you have the boat in Uk waters?

Advice would be welcome.

Many thanks

Michael

Dont worry - once you're on the database you will get reminders all right.

Incidentally, as a UK flagged vessel (if you are one that is) you should be paying the fee and getting the license whether in UK waters or not. As far as I can see, you are more likely to be asked for your license abroad than you are here.

No Worries

Treat it like arriving at the railway station very late - but just in time to catch the train without buying a ticket. I of 2 things will happen:
1 - someone will come along and you can pay them
2 - No-one comes along and you get a free ride.

The reminder arrives approx 6 weeks before renewal, as long as you haven't moved or anything.

Thanks for that.

I will await the postman.

Good point about the British Reg however, I wonder how many of the Brit Reg boats I see in Spainish have the radio licence then?

I have to say in my (solent) marina it looks like the vast majority are complying.
