Er Hello, I\'m the new boy, anyone there?

Afternoon all, I'm the new boy here and thought I really ought to just say 'Hi'. Although we've been on the Thames for the last ten years, I've not joined this forum before but I do have one question -

I've seen and heard all the EA press releases and they keep banging on about new shower facilities, we've been based at Abingdon for the last few years and seen none. Do they exist or is it just hype?

Regards
The New Boy

Showers? What showers? The only Shower at the E.A. are the people running it.
Oh! Welcome! nice to see you here.

Welcome to the Forum, we're often up at Abingdon so come say hello if you see us.

No never heard of showers either, possibly one in the sanitary station at Shepperton lock but could be mistaken.

Re: Er Hello, I\'m the new boy, anyone there?

There is a shower at Boveney (if it hasnt been vandalised as there is no longer a lock-keeper on site).

Re: Er Hello, I\'m the new boy, anyone there?

There are showers at Cookham, and possibly in the new environmentally friendly timber buidling at Hurley.

Hi from Fellow New Boy also been on the Thames for ten years. Showers do exist in the new timber building at Hurley, which looks as if it cost loads of EA money to construct which would have probably paid a few lock keepers wages for quite a long time.

Been boating on the Thames for 7 or 8 years now and I never knew there were all these showers around at EA facilities, wonder how many other boaters don't know as well?

Darren.

I never knew either but what I do know now is that there's no excuse for some of the Forumites smelling the way they do /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I spoke to the keeper at Cookham a while ago and was told - then - that the showers were not in operation, some 'elfnsafety / drainage issue, but it was a couple of years ago.

Best to check first?

The story was that the canoe club paid for most of it (they occupy the back portion); on the other hand it may have been said to shut me up!

Re: Er Hello, I\'m the new boy, anyone there?

I knew there were showers there, I didn't say anything about them working!!!

Typical waste of money if they're out of action!

Re: Er Hello, I\'m the new boy, anyone there?

Fair play to the canoe club in that case, I was unaware of their contribution.
