Need to secure lots of hinge screws where with heavy use they have worked loose and enlarged holes in both wood & GRP.

Previously on another thread Devcon was recommended but on investigating there are :-

Devcon -1 min epoxy, 5 min epoxy, 5 min epoxy gel, 10min epoxy, 2ton epoxy & HP250

Anyone have experience of using any of these products and what would you recommend for my purpose

Thanks

I think these are just epoxy adhesives.

For strength you need an epoxy resin containing a filler.

As said above there is loadsa info on resin and filler selection on the Wessex resins ( West) website.

Snag will be that you have to buy buckets more resin and filler than you will need.

Ideally find someone nearby from whom you an scrounge a little ....... pity you don't live near me.

Remember though that epoxy resins and hardener proportions must be accurately measured and that there is a minimum temperature for their use. If you are outdoors the temperature requirement may mean you are snookered until next summer.

OP asked which Devcon product to use.

I have used the original Devcon sold either as metal repair epoxy or contains metal epoxy. The blurb will say can be drilled and tapped.

Seems OK in both wood and fibreglass. The only downside is the color, a dark grey. I have used regular clear epoxy in wood which seems to work. just fine.
