Epoxy primer prior to copper coat question

I'd be grateful if someone can give me advice as to which epoxy primer is best to apply before applying a coopercoat type antifouling.

I've tried "googling", without much success so far.

I suggest you contact the manufacturer/supplier of the 'coppercoat' and ask them.

Then you have a come-back if it goes tits-up.

Aquarius Marine Coatings (the Coppercoat people) do an excellent epoxy primer: easy to apply; stays 'open' for months after application, so the Coppercoat can be applied at short notice whenever conditions are right.

On the other hand, a primer is not normally needed on properly-prepared and abraded gel coat.

AMC are very responsive to queries. Best discuss your situation with them. Obviously they can only advise on Coppercoat treatments, not "coppercoat type", as the OP wrote.

It is well worth calling the manufacturers as they are a mine of useful information, dispatch quickly and guide you right through the process. you can also then be sure of applying the right thing. I found their prices pretty reasonable as well.

As has been said - ask the manufacturer. I did and they supplied a high build commercial epoxy that was signifficantly cheaper and more tolerant of humidity during application than the yachty varieties. They also gave a 'boat show' discount on the total order despite my not having been to a UK boat show since the early 70's.

I haven't spoken to them, but website says "appropriate epoxy primer".

I'll call them when I get "a round tuit"
