Epoxy paint mixing.

I have run out of curing agent for my 5 to 1 paint but have plenty of curing agent for 3 to 1. Can I use the 3 to 1 with the 5 to 1. What is the curing mechanism with epoxy paint. It seems to cure rock hard at low temperatures where normal laminating resin would definitely not cure.

Mix a sample and see what happens. Probably be OK if the job isn't strength critical.

It's paint not as easy as resin to judge what the effect is.

If it cures and is dry and not sticky it'll be OK.

Epoxy setting is a chemical reaction, and requires the right proportions of hardener. Experiment as suggested before committing to using it where it matters. Insufficient hardener it will not cure properly,. Too much and it will not use all the hardener, which remains free in the epoxy, weakening it and usually leaving it feeling sticky. Either way it's a nightmare to remove properly!
