What kind of 406 EPIRB do you have? I notice in a recent test McMurdo Pains Wessx appear to have done rather poorly, failed to provide location information almost every time I believe.

To be accurate that only related to the GPS fixing nature of the EPIRBS, the "conventional" position location mechanism continued to work. So even if the GPS bit does not work successfully they will still come and find you.

I have a McMurdo EPIRB, but that report makes me glad that I didn't fork out the extra £200 to get the GPS version /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
