Two years ago I switched the transom from blakes yacht enamel to epifanes yacht enamel and I'm very pleased with it, its dark blue and I reckon lasting better than the Blakes.

In a few weeks (when spring arrives...)I'm going to re paint the top sides and cabin sides in white, I'm planning to also switch from Blakes to Epifanes, given this hull is hot moulded do we think I should go for yacht enamel, monourethane or Nautiforte?

They have a good website (in Dutch, American and Chinese!) here

(I think Nautiforte only comes in white?)

I would instinctively stick with the yacht enamel (like you, I switched from Blakes two years ago, and I am delighted with the Epifanes enamel)

But you could probably use the monourethane.

It looks as if you can.

(read ..."let me hold your coat whilst you try it...!)

I did not do what they say with the enamel; I did two undercoats, filling between them, a half and half coat and two gloss coats. Worked very well.

Quite, I dont really want to be the ybw long term test on putting urethane over enamel.

Last time with blakes I did two undercoats, one half and half, one three quarters top coat and quarter undercoat, then a top coat, looked a dream and has lasted 3 years but is a bit yellow in places and some fender scuffs.

Think I'll stick with enamel.

BTW and FYI (uuurgh!!)

My dear Papa has been having some problems sourcing Epifanes in Cornwall, so I've been doing some furious googling and found the best prices to be HERE

I have no connection to the company in question, and have no idea how good their service is!!

Hope this is moderately useful to you guys.

Cheers

James

Think I saw your boat in Ocean Village? Just around the corner is Marineware, they stock it, they are right under the bridge by Hampshire Hose.

Was 'HERE' a link?
