Epifanes 2-pack

Has anyone used Epifanes polyurethane 2-pack paint, and if so, would you recommend it? I know Awlgrip is great, but it's too expensive, so I'm wondering about other alternatives. Also, has anyone touched it up subsequently and how did that go?

I'm not sure that Epi is any better than any other 2K. Of course in terms of finish, you can use a high build clear top coat. Rylards also do their own 2 pack. Firwoods do a complete system, epoxy primer and two pack poly top coat. 2K has come a long way from "Slap it on all over Henry" and "Plastic overcoats for cars"

The actual cost of the paint is only a small percentage of the total cost of painting. If you're concerned about touching up, go for Awlcraft 2000 - it can be touched up, buffed, compounded, polished, etc.

I'm sure it looks good, but can it be touched up? Can marks be buffed out? Can it be successfully polished? Most polyester urethane paints can't, which is why an acrylic urethane paint such as Awlcraft 2000 has many attractions for the average boater.

Yep definitely second that. Painted topsides with this over the years and is hard wearing and would be my second choice if the client can´t afford Awlgrip. However tacks off quick in comparison to Awlgrip if your doing a hand application. Also there´s no retardent with this product so you have to cut back on the hardner 10 - 20 % depending on the temp as well as the thinners.

I have colour sanded and buffed a small part of my boat painted with this 2-pack paint (at least I have been told it is identical to 2-pack paint from a different company I used but uses the same source). And it worked out great.
