A little about me:
35yrs of age
male
approx 2000 miles logged, mainly in my early to mid 20's on various tall ships including off shore/cross channel passages. More recently 4 or 5 seasons round the cans racing on an Impala 28. In the last year or two shift work has prevented me committing to racing/crewing every weekend and I haven't sailed for about 2 years but I am really keen to get back on the water, therefore any mid week opportunities would be particularly welcome. Every 3 or 4 days I get 2 or 3 days off, so my availability might suit a skipper who is flexible themselves and not necessarily constrained to weekends although my rolling rota and a good annual leave entitlement mean I can hopefully be available for longer periods with a little forward planning.
Sloop or gaff, wood or plastic, cutting edge or centuries old technology, racing or cruising, any opportunity is sought! I have to admit to a predilection to anything with a classic rig or lines, and I'd love to learn more about sailing/maintaining a wooden classic but my number one aim is to gain a solid breadth of experience so really any opportunity sought.
I have my own wet weather gear. I hold a comp crew certificate, I really want to brush up with a view to one day being a responsible and confident boat owner myself, and in the mean time I want to learn learn learn and get as much experience as I can. That includes maintenance so if you need a hand with any pre or post or mid season jobs I'm your man (although I can't claim to have any particular practical skills I'm sure I can learn), no matter how dirty or laborious.
I live South Kent, 11 miles from Rye, 45 mins to an hours drive from Eastbourne, Dover, Rasmgate and the Medway any of which would suit me fine. Brighton might be pushing it for regular day sailing, Essex likewise with having to contend with the DRC, but for longer passages and/or the right opportunity distance is no barrier.
My biggest asset is definitely my enthusiasm and reliability, and I like to think I'm a personable and easy to get on with sort of person who can make a worthwhile contribution to your valuable leisure time afloat.
If you think I might be able to make a fit in with your plans I would love to hear from you.
Thank you!
Richard
