Entering The Port of Liverpool

I sailed from Fleetwood to Liverpool about a month ago for the first time. I just headed for the main channel and had no problem following the buoys. There were a few ships coming out but the channel is wide and there was no problem ( a lot more room than Fleetwood channel with the Stenna ferry). I phoned ahead to the marina to book a berth as I wanted to be sure that there was a place after a 10 -12 hr passage. When I reached the mersey I called the marina on vhf to make sure that the lock gate was manned. I timed my arrival for about 1hr before hw. No problems once I found the entrance. There has been a lot of recent building alongside the river and my pilot book photo was out of date. People at L'pool marina very helpful and friendly.

You must be a very tall sailor to see 40 miles from the cockpit of a yacht.

A 95 metre kright of a light and a 10 metre height of eye gives a distance off of only 26.9 miles.
