Joint Services boat ashore Cherbourg, understand all crew safely rescued. Anyone know the full story?

Apparently suffered a damaged prop and went ashore close to Ommenville.

We saw this when we passed through Cherbourg recently. She was one of a number of bent boats (none of them bendytoys though!) on the hard. Judging by the amount of sand inside her she had been bouncing around on the beach for some time.

According to one of the locals they were a bit slow calling for the SNSM and only the rib got there in time. That took off the peeps but could not pull the yacht clear. By the time the big one got there it was too late. Not a very good job of scavenging I thought. Far too much hardware left on board. In a real third world country everything would have gone so maybe we should rethink La Belle France's ratings! Forgot to ask how it was brought round to Cherbourg. Will have to try and find out.

Didn't they lose another one of St Albans Head a couple of summers ago?

The steel boat was hit by a fishing boat 10 miles N of C. de Hague, skipper injured. Must have been one hell of a bang!

Ha! I was looking at those bent metal boats and the smashed GRP boat on the side at Cherbourg over the weekend....
