English speaking surveyor, France Atlantic coast

This question came up a couple of months ago. PM nigelstgeorge (username on here) he is the CA rep for the area and knows the answers. There is an English surveyer in the area.

Sybarite, the guy who surveyed my boat did not have much English.

Friend used a guy from St Savinien for the Ins. Survey for his classic mobo. I think he speaks English. Bit further away, but PM me I can help there. We are just South of Rochefort

I know British qualified surveyor and boatbuilder who lives near La Roche Bernard in Southern Brittany. If you PM me I will send you his email and phone number.

Having had a poor experience with two overseas surveyors, I'd send my man from the UK. Flights are cheap and you know where to find him if it all goes wrong.

Thanks all for your replies - very helpful. Follow up PMs sent

Any other thoughts and advice on survey and purchase in France welcome. Will keep you posted if progresses (still just an option)

My solution (for a boat in Ireland) was to book the flights for a surveyor from England.

That was plan A - but my UK surveyor suggested that reduced flight availability in winter may make a 2-3 day trip in total which gets expensive

That would make a difference. Have you checked flights yourself? In my case, I made all the arrangements having discussed with him how long he needed for the job. I had to get a few tools for him that he couldn't carry as hand luggage.
