Buying our 1st motorboat to get some training on.For weekend trips from Brighton. Any advice on engine size or anything to avoid would be appreciated. Budget is 20-30
Cabin Cruiser?
Walkaround fishing?
Outboards or inboards?
If inboards, then either Volvo or Mercruiser - check out dealers that are local to you for support.
Anything else will be "obscure" and potentially a hobby to keep going.
If outboards, again, pick something popular, e.g. Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Tohatsu, Evinrude were great but sadly have just pulled out.
Not Force, Chrysler, or Chinese things ...
These days, for smaller boats, outboards have several advantages. Lower service requirements, they are much more reliable than in the old days, and you can tilt them out of the water. Inboards have the weight lower in the boat. And a V8 petrol inboard with an external exhaust sounds amazing
Thanks for all ur really helpful replies. We looking for a used boat and going to get out on some boats next week. Wanting something to birth at Brighton Marina to build up to weekends along the coast gaining experience
