Hi,

Can anyone recommend an engineer in the Falmouth area please? I assume that it would be a bit far for some of the regulars on here to travel, but if not would be happy to hear from you. Boat is somewhat disabled at the moment, need both cutlass bearings changed (desperately!), rope cutter re-aligned, bow thruster anode, holding tank installed, some minor diesel leaks sorting, some stainless welding and two tanks of diesel 'polished'. There might be one or two other jobs to go on to that list, but that's the major ones. Anyone had good service they would be happy to recommend?

Thanks in advance.

In know this is banging an old drum, but I'm an Engineer, but not what you are looking for. I think you need a technician or mechanic. I would be far too expensive, circa £2500 per day, but with little experience for your needs.

Sorry to be a pedant, but it is no good going into a shop to buy milk, and coming out with cream is it?

Try Marine Engineering Looe, I use these guy's in Brixham and the service has been pretty good so far, usually charge circa £45 per hour for qualified engineer, anout half that for the apprentice.

Without the slightest doubt whatsoever I can recommend Challenger Marine up at Penryn. Looked after me outstandingly well when I had major problems with my Volvo D3 - they had to get it out of the boat to do the job. Afraid I might have had to sell the boat to pay the bill! But no. They were absolutely excellent.

Got them to service our boat this year - yet we're based at Poole - that's how highly I think of them.

Philip.

Wow!
Do you really make that much per day and even have time to come on here
and pontificate
Dont give up the day job

Cheers all, two recommendations, I can get straight on the blower and see if they can help me out. Always prefer to get recommendations if I can, I don't have any knowledge of the eng.... mechanical technicians in the area ;-)

Thanks again, much appreciated.
