Still having trouble tracing the intermittent running of my engine, I needed some diagnostic information.

Having spent part of my life trouble shooting computers, I learnt "knowledge is power".

Simple idea;-

I tried to obtain a male-male-female 1/2" UNF Tee but ended up making one. (Just so happens I am producing a load of similar items for Morgan at the moment).

On the Tee, I added a transparent plastic cylinder bored through and tapped 1/2" UNF both ends and replaced the plug at the top.

As a first location, I attached it to the spare output from the final fuel filter. When I returned to the boat last night, the cylinder was empty. Activating the tank pump after slackening the top seal, it was so gratifying to see the cylinder fill and pushing out the air through the top. That gave an indication of where in the system the/a leak lay.

Next location will be the feed to the injection pump at the connection.

For what it's worth, in a similar situation, try it.

If you can't source a cylinder, I can provide one. Cost of material only.

Picture to follow. (Don't get excited!).

Does the fuel flow along the bar at the bottom of an inverted T?

If so, I suspect that most bubbles may go with the flow, so could be better to force a right-angle.

Yes, you are right. It is possible to configure the pipework to achieve that quite easily.

It was the lack of knowledge about the contents of the metal pipework that frustrated me.

I am a bit nervous about plastic pipe work. There have to be fire considerations.
