doubt there are any specialist engine surveyors around Neyland (assuming same boat as the other thread). When I moved from Penarth (where the engine was meticulously serviced by the aforementioned Wigmore Wright) I asked about for an engineee with a Volvo Penta certification. None of the locals (including Neyland marina staff) knew anybody. However Wigmores themselves told me that Dale sailing always at least attend the refresher courses (they all go together!) so are if not certified then experienced, they might thus be the best port of call in an area thin on choice.
Yes... going over to the dark side. I do love sailing but time and tide are pretty much limiting our ability to get out on the water. Added into that, I don't hold the traditional view of sailing in the wet and cold being a wonderful thing...
Apparently the other company to look at is Windjammer Marine. Lets just say that some friends of ours used WW and Volvo Penta actually had to step in and have our friend's boat transported to Portishead to fix the cock up.
The problem with mobos of course is the people you meet. There are enough brexiteer pensioners under flappy sails. suspect they are almost a monoculture aboard the average gin palace
Good luck with it anyhow. Give us a shout if you are in Milford
Re. Windjammer that is a bit of a worrying report as they just did a very tidy job in our seacocks (if slow). Haven't decided whether to use them or Dale for the winter servicing but certainly won't be bringing the boat back to Cardiff.
Know exactly what you are saying about time versus weather in sailing. It has been our #1 problem for the last 6 years.
Nonono... the worrying report was about Wigmore Wright. Windjammer has good reviews.
Bloody Brexiteers! I think I need to fly a little EU flag to make my intentions clear! Although, that might result in a brick through our window!
Will definitely let you know when we are up in Millford... assuming all the stars line up, we will need to do a boat collection from Nayland to Swansea, so might as well use the opportunity to take in Millford. Equally, if you venture back near Swansea, let us know.
i never had any problems at all with Wigmores in six years of engine servicing there, I have to say. In fact I still have them service the little outboard as they are honda dealers.
Good luck with the boat and hope to see you again definitley. Are you at liberty to say what boat it is?
