The bigger the better. About 30mm minimum, preferably 50mm. Use the same size for the earth cable. Get it from the local arc welding supplies.

Just bought 35mm is that ok.....looks prety big compared to what is ther.

Any piece of old rope will do.

30mm diameter would be fine although a bit difficult to bend! No voltage drop though!

If the cable you have bought is heavier than what is already there so much the better. You'll need a heavy duty crimping machine to fit the end terminals.
