I have a picton sunsport 15.5ft boat with a 60hp on it which recently decide to die. Would 115hp be too much for this boat I can't find anything online to say the max power for it
Perfect thank you very much I couldn't find it anywhereAccording to the technical data the maximum engine size is 70 hp.
??Sounds like fun haha. I'm more concerned about ripping the transumA friend of mine bought a 16 foot Sims Super V years ago that had a 115hp Evinrude on the back. Way over powered but it was a blast to drive. It actually leapt out of the water when you nailed the throttle. I believe the max rating was also 70hp. Not saying it was advisable though, but it was serious fun.
D
The 115hp is about 50kg more than the 60hp I'm sure it wouldn't make that much of a differenceMany older boats had a max hp but that was for a 2 stroke.
I bought a boat with an old Johnson 60. I could pick it up as it was not that heavy. Total guess but maybe 60kg?
I had a honda 75/90 4t and it was 230kg !
I also tried a evinrude e-tec 90 after using a 2t mariner 90 and honda 90.
26 knts top speed went up to 32 and acceleration was like I had just gone to a 140.
Was impressive!
I would suggest looking up the weight of replacement engine then getting that weight of people to stand on transom to make sure it does not submerge.
You will notice a huge improvement in fuel economy going from a 2t to 4t
