Hi

I've recently ordered service items for twin KAD32Ps and wanted to ask one or two questions.

Is there a good guide/reference manual/book for the KAD32 engine? I cannot seem to find one which contains the detail I am after (e.g. step by step instructions for each of the following activities).

I'm planning on completing the following activities:

Replace air canisters (screw off/on)
Replace air filters (open up filter box and perform a swap)
Once warm, remove oil using pump via dip stick.
Remove oil filters using filter wrench
Replace oil filters with new (screw on)
Add new oil to same amount that comes out.
Remove old fuel filters using filter wrench
Replace fuel filters with new (screw on)
Hand pump new fuel through the system
Replace racor filter (done this one before!)
Replace aging battery with new model (checked correct model number).
Check/replace impellers
Check oil levels using dip stick

Restart engines and keep fingers crossed!

Is there anything I'm missing in terms of bleeding systems? I cannot find anything online but don't want to start the engines and break something!

Thanks in advance,

Jim

You could check the compressor oil level and top up if necessary
Do grease the steering arms, these can be quite difficult to access as the will be behind the engine but it is necessary
If Air Canisters are the crankcase breathers, I wouldn't replace them unless they are very oil as they are very expensive
You might want to replace the coolant if it has not been done for some time
google the VolvoPenta site for the owners manual. It will be useful
And of course check all of the belts and replace if they are worn. Some people will replace every year anyway

Have a look at the drive belts...how much life do they have left in the tension screws...might as well change them while you are in there.

None of that needs a manual :)
Fuel filters I just fill them before fitting with some clean diesel to minimise the amount of air then just restart the engine, sometimes it just coughs slightly but soon bleeds itself through, same fuel system as yours on my AD31's.

Don't forget to change the supercharger oil. Often gets over looked. The manual recommends changing it at 200 hour intervals.

When was the impellor last changed?

I wouldn't call £16.64 expensive for a crankcase filter!

You can buy the workshop manual from Volvo here.

There's a download for the Aquamatic 280 / 290 DP drive workshop manual here.
