I have an automatic fire extinguishing system with the brass fitting on the bottle

It needs updating, so these are my questions
Who does the recertification to extend its life? More to the point, who does it in France?
or
How do I just replace the bottle? I haven’t seen any for sale with the brass fitting, is it something you just remove and put on a new bottle?

What is it, powder?
I don’t actually know (I’ve been following threads on the mist extinguishers). The bottle is on the other side of the engine and I only want to crawl there to do the job, I’m no longer good in tight spaces ☹️

I went through the same in the CdA .Made enquires by a couple of local ( to me ) marine extinguisher service Cos .
Came back with anything from €1_2 K for a “ service / overhaul. Even a few hundred to come out and look .
They know they have you by the short + curlys :) .Insurance and possibly diligent Marina staff might want evidence one day
Wanted engine friendly gas not power despite what it claims .

Did the calcs re volume, plenty of online calculators and went for the 6 kg version of this mounted it myself . lasts 5 yrs have all the necessary certifications to prove to any jobsworth.
Binned the old one .

From memory circa £450 inc shipping ? 2019 ? so under a £100 quid / pa is the way I look at it .

Not quite sure what you would get for €2 K ?

When it’s times up I will repeat the exercise .

We do have by the helm additionally closing air vents , closing fuel cocks and manual release toggles to pull .5 in all .
That thing is automatic as well .

Confession time and apologies in advance.
With the old ( out of date one ) I asked around where to take it to get rid of it .
Got nowhere with the yard , Marina or chandelier s etc .
Flares yes , oil yes , batteries yes but un discharged gas fire extinguishers.......bit fat “ non “

As a treat to my mates that assist with the annual haul out then I would either take them to Monaco or Stropez .
This time we went miles out to ( said on chart ) over 2000 m depth .

Tied some string on the bulb and attached to my 50 kg breaking strain big game fishing gear + rod .
Slowed the boat down and released the clutch on the reel and carefully from the bathing platform lowered the thing into the sea .
Pinned the throttles .
Initially as it sank and the boat accelerated away the rod bent right over * it was clipped into a safety strap to prevent it being lost overboard)
Like a scene from Jaws .The reel wizzed out line .

Then whoosh an almighty gas bubble like a depth charger going off about 100 m astern like a scene from “das boot “

We were due to fly home soon and I did try very hard to environmentally dispose of it guys .

I await incoming flak
